In our hyperconnected world where we juggle countless browser tabs and endless mental burdens, genuine rest feels impossible to find. This devotional explores Matthew 11:28, where Jesus extends a profound invitation: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

Through the moving testimony of Canadian artist Josh Nadeau, who experienced spiritual awakening during a life-threatening illness, we discover that true rest isn't about changing circumstances - it's about finding relationship with the Rest Maker himself. Research confirms what Scripture has always declared: faith provides measurable mental rest and restoration.

Unlike cultural promises of escape, Jesus offers something transformative - his presence in our work rather than absence from it. This isn't mere physical recovery, but soul-deep restoration that comes through intimate relationship with Christ.

Scripture Focus: Matthew 11:28 (NLT) Practical Challenge: Spend ten minutes today simply being present with Jesus - no agenda, no performance, just accepting his invitation.

Ready to discover rest that transforms rather than merely distracts? Listen now and explore how Jesus actively pursues you with love, grace, and the promise of genuine peace.

If you use a computer or mobile device. I wonder how many tabs you have open in your browser right now. Too many and your device can slow to a crawl. I wonder how many times you have open in your mind right now to waste. When did you last experience genuine soul deep rest rather than mere physical recovery? In Matthew chapter 11, verse 28, Jesus extends a profound invitation that cuts through our breathless world.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. These aren't simply beautiful words. They're a transformative promise from the rest maker himself. Notice how tenderly specific Jesus words are. Come to me, not find God in some distant, abstract way, but come to me. His invitation to us is personal, immediate, and accessible.

Josh Nadeau is a Canadian artist who faced his own mortality whilst his wife was pregnant with their first child. He coughed up over two liters of blood and nearly died three times during 21 days in hospital. There were no medical answers or even promises of recovery. But despite this, Josh experienced a deep spiritual awakening. Jesus healed of blindness in me that day whilst I lay dying, he said.

I've been unable to see the beautiful, ordinary, everyday gift of life. Josh discovered what research confirms faith literally provides measurable mental rest. But here's what strikes me most intensely. Jesus doesn't promise your circumstances will change. He promises that you will find rest in relation with him. The invitation stands regardless of your external situation. Jesus says, I have come to seek you out as much as you may be searching for peace.

He is actively pursuing you with love, grace and mercy. The creator of the universe invites us into intimate relationship where true rest becomes possible. This divine rest differs fundamentally from what our culture offers. Whenever I attend a spiritual leaders retreat. I don't simply escape my responsibilities. I reconnect with the source of my strength. May you two discover that rest isn't the absence of work, but the presence of Jesus in your work.

So here's what I invite you to do. Spend ten minutes today simply being present with Jesus. No agenda, no requests, no performance. Just accept his invitation to come. As we close. Think about this. How might your day change if you genuinely believed Jesus is actively seeking to give you rest?
