Your priorities follow your treasure - so where’s your heart today?
#BattleDrillDevotional #HeartAndTreasure #KingdomLiving
In this episode of Battle Drill Daily Devotional, we turn to Jesus’ words in Luke 12:34: “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” This isn’t just about money - it’s about attention, affection, and direction. What we value most shapes everything else.
Are your investments eternal or temporary? Are you building something with God - or just for yourself? This devotional gently calls us back to deeper purpose. In a Salvation Army context, we’re reminded that every act of service and generosity can be treasure stored in heaven.
Scripture: Luke 12:34 (NLT)
Call to Action: Reflect on where your time and energy are going - and redirect your heart toward heaven’s values.

Hello. Let me ask you a simple but searching question. What do you treasure the most? It's so easy to fill our lives with the pursuit of stuff. More money, more recognition, more comfort. And we justify it. Of course we need to provide. We need to feel secure. We need to keep up with those around us. But Jesus reminds us that all of that seeds, what lasts, is what we treasure in heaven.

The psalmist puts it beautifully. Your instructions are more valuable to me. The millions in gold and silver. How sweet your words taste to me. They are sweeter than honey. Psalm 119, verses 72 and 103. That kind of longing. Hungering for God's word. More than comfort is radical in a world that's built on accumulation. I remember a season when I chased a goal with everything I had.

I even reached it, and it brought joy for a while. But eventually the excitement faded and that quiet ache returned. God took the opportunity to gently remind me, it's knowing me, not your achievements, that will satisfy your soul. Jesus connects treasure and hearts like this. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Luke chapter 12, verse 34.

So when I treasure God's word, when I sit with it, when I allow myself to soak in it, when I shape my day around it, my heart shifts. My desire is shift. I see things differently. I give more freely. I live with deeper joy. God's word isn't a duty. It's an invitation. A way to live on purpose. To trust in God's promises.

To walk through difficulties without being crushed. And to rest in a love that's never let go. So today, let's ask. Am I chasing what fades? Or am I leaning into what lasts?

Here's your thought for the day. What am I really pursuing? And what do I need to let go of? To treasure God more deeply. Let's pray together. Lord, you've given us your word. More valuable than silver. More lasting than any treasure this world offers. Forgive me when I chase what doesn't satisfy. Help me to treasure your truth. Shape my heart to beat in time with yours.

Draw me closer to you today. Amen. Tomorrow we'll explore how generosity can build treasure that lasts forever. Until then, stay rooted in what truly matters.
