Your life is already filled with gifts that God intends you to use for good - so what’s stopping you?

In this episode of the Battle Drill Devotional, we turn to Luke 12:43, where Jesus commends the servant who is found faithfully working when the master returns. It’s a picture of readiness - not flashy, not perfect, but steady, available, and fruitful. The kind of readiness that isn’t about waiting for the right moment but about making the most of the moment you’re already in.

God has placed something in your hands today. It may be time, wisdom, prayer, or practical skills. And he’s inviting you to offer it - not when life calms down, not when you feel fully qualified, but now. That’s not pride. It’s stewardship. Faithfulness isn’t measured by perfection but by our willingness to show up, especially in the ordinary and unseen moments of service.

Across The Salvation Army, we witness this daily: people giving from what little they have - serving meals, praying quietly, showing kindness without applause. This is Kingdom work. And it starts right where you are.

Call to Action:

What’s already in your hands? Ask God how you can use it - today - to serve others and bring his Kingdom near.

Hello and welcome back. Let me ask you something. Are you making the most of the gifts God has placed in your hands? Jesus tells a parable about a faithful servant. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. He says in Luke chapter 12, verse 43, the servant doesn't waste time.

He doesn't wait until it's convenient. He serves faithfully right where he is with what he has. That's a picture of what it means to live. Ready. Ready for Jesus. Ready to love, ready to serve. You and I have been entrusted with gifts, with skills, with experience, with resources. And they're not random. They're not just for us. They're invitations to participate in what God is doing.

But let's be honest for a moment. It's easy to hesitate, isn't it? To hold back, to think that we're not good enough, or that the timing isn't quite right, or that someone else will step up instead? In the Salvation Army, I see the opposite every day people offering what they have just a few hours, a quiet prayer, a warm meal, a listening ear.

They serve without spotlight. They show up and through them God's kingdom breaks in. You don't need to be perfect. You just need to be willing. Jesus isn't asking us for Polish. He's asking us for faithfulness. It's not prideful to develop your gifts. It's not selfish to want to grow in what you're good at. That's stewardship. It's preparation. It's part of being ready.

So what is God placed in your hands today? What's already in your grasp? Waiting to be used for his glory. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Don't wait to feel ready. Live. Ready instead. Here's your final thought for this week. What is God placed in your hands today? And what gift can you grow and use for his glory?

Let's pray for the final time this week. Lord, thank you for the gifts you've placed in my life. Big and small. Help me not to hide them, but to use them with courage and purpose. Make me faithful in the little things. Shape me into a servant who is ready when you call. In Jesus name. Amen. Let's live today with purpose.
