Hello and welcome. Today we're exploring what it means to let go and let God lead. There's a battle going on in every one of us. It's not always loud. It doesn't always show, but it's there. The tug of war over who's in charge. We might not say it out loud, of course, but deep down, many of us live as if the whole universe is balanced on our shoulders. If I don't fix this, we think it'll fall apart. If I don't push, then it won't move. If I let go. Everything might unravel. But God says something very different. Psalm 46, verse ten tells us, be still and know that I am God. I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. This verse isn't just a soft, comforting whisper. It's more like a holy interruption in Hebrew. It's blunt. Stop striving. Cease. Let go. Not because life has suddenly become simple or safe, but because God is God and you are not. That truth is both freeing and confronting. Stillness demands our trust. It asks you to unclench your hands, to loosen your grip, and to stop trying to control every moving piece. And in a world that applauds hustle, noise, and constant motion, God's invitation into stillness feels almost upside down. In the Salvation Army, like so many Christians, we often live life at full pace, serving others, helping others, and leading others. And there's much good in that. But if we're not careful, we can end up running on fumes. We pray in a snatched prayer on the move. We give help to others without stopping to let God help us slowly, without even realizing it. We start to live as if it's all on us. Prayer changes that. Prayer is the place where you let God take over again. It's not just another task on the list. It's a lifeline. A daily habit of letting go. A quiet surrender that shapes a stronger life. I once read about a mother whose toddler had just moved into a big boy bed. It should have been exciting, but he couldn't sleep. He was anxious and restless. One night he said to his mum, I need a fence. He didn't want more freedom. He wanted more safety. So they put the cot past back. And that night he slept in peace. That image has stayed with me. Stillness isn't weakness. Surrender isn't retreat. The strength. Because they put your trust back in the right place. God is the fence. His presence is your stronghold. And prayer is how you rest inside it. So here's the hard question. Are you too busy to let God be God? Have you quietly taken the weight of control back onto your own shoulders? If you're worn thin today, start here. Stop. Breathe. Be still. God hasn't gone anywhere. He's strong enough to lead. If you'll let go. Let prayer be your active. Surrender today. Set aside just a few minutes. Open your Bible to Psalm 46. And then read verse ten out loud. Sit quietly. Tell God the things you've been gripping too tightly. Put them into his hands. One by one. You don't have to figure it all out. You just have to let him be God. When we stop striving, we're not giving up. We're stepping back into the safety of his presence. And that's where strength grows. Here's your thought starter for today. Where in your life do you need to stop striving and simply let God be God? Let's pray. Lord, I surrender the parts of my life I've tried to control. Teach me to trust you. Help me to stop. To listen and to rest in your strength. In stillness. Remind me who you are and who I'm not. In Jesus name, Amen. I'll see you next time as we take another step together in following Jesus.
