When life feels overwhelming, the Battle Drill Devotional reminds us of the power we discover when we ask God for help (2 Corinthians 1:9). Paul learned that God’s strength shines brightest when our own runs dry - and the same is true for you.

Hi and welcome to the Battle Drill Daily Devotional. I'm Rob Westwood-Payne, and I'm here to help you start your day spiritually strong with a quick, powerful devotional from God's Word. Don't forget to visit battledrilldevotional.com for more daily devotionals and resources. Now let's jump in. Hello and welcome back. It's so good to have you with me today. When you feel stuck in life, where do you turn? You try harder. You read another self-help book. You ask a friend. You make yet another plan. But still nothing shifts. If you want to move forward, you need to ask God for help. The Apostle Paul knew this firsthand. He wrote in Second Corinthians chapter one, verse nine. We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves. But that was good. For then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us. For he can raise the dead. That's a powerful picture. Paul felt crushed, beaten down, even close to death. He had nothing left to give. Yet in that very dark place, he discovered the greatest truth. God's power shines when our power has run dry. When you ask God for help, you put your trust in the one who turns crucifixions into resurrections. I think if Carol Heath, who shared her story in Today's Christian after a painful divorce from a loveless marriage, she found herself running a shelter for homeless women and their children in northern Georgia. My Sister's place welcomes addicts, alcoholics, single mums and women who had lost almost everything but the chaos and pain of so many broken lives weighed heavy on Carol, until one night she snapped. She jumped in her van and drove through the dark, screaming to God, this is too hard. I just can't do it. Wiping the tears with a crumpled fast food napkin, she sobbed, I still hate my life. I'm lonely no matter how many women you put me with. To Carol, in that moment, God felt far away and silent. But the next day, something shifted at the local food bank while she prayed under her breath. God showed me how to really love these women. A volunteer offered her some long stemmed pink roses that would otherwise be thrown away. That evening. Carol placed those roses in a vase, lit donated candles, and set the table for supper with care. She told the women, we have a new tradition now. Our families tradition every night will have fresh roses and candles on our table. Carol later wrote in the soft glow of candlelight, my precious family and I reached out and held hands as we said our blessing. Gail, my new sister and best friend, sat on my right side and squeezed my hand tightly. I squeezed back hard. What changed for Carol? Not the women, not the circumstances she found herself in. But Carol had asked God for help and he gave her a new way to see, a new way to love, and a new family at the table. Maybe you feel stuck today. Maybe you've tried everything and nothing has worked. The truth is, you cannot fix it alone. But God can. When you ask God for help, you make space for his grace. There is no pit too deep for his hand to reach. He can lift you up. And he can set your feet on a new path. So today, stop carrying the weight alone. Let your prayer be simple. Lord, I need you. Help me. That's where resurrection begins. Today's thoughts start to question is this what area of your life feel stuck right now? And how will you ask God for help in it today? Let's pray. Lord, I admit I cannot fix my life on my own. So I place my trust in you. You can raise the debt so you can change me. Help me today to lean on your strength and follow your lead. In Jesus name, Amen. See you again soon.
