Today, we're looking at a simple switch that can lift a heavy weight off our shoulders. How to stop trying to do God's job and start letting him do his. Welcome to Battle Drill daily devotionals with me. Robots would be your Salvation Army officer friend for five minutes of biblical encouragement and spiritual readiness. Maybe you know the feeling. It's late. The house is quiet, but your mind is racing. You're replaying the budget that you're working on earlier, or rehearsing tomorrow's meetings and wondering if you've done enough. You've color coded your calendar. You've double checked the plan, and yet you still like the feeling like a dropped ice cream on a hot pavement. That's not just tired. That's playing God tired. Here's what I've noticed in my own day. When I try to hold everything together myself, I end up snapping at the small things, worrying about the big things. I'm feeling like a phone on 2% battery. Jesus saw this coming in Matthew chapter five, verse three in the New English Bible he says, how blessed are those who know they need of God. The kingdom of heaven is theirs. Those who know their need of God. That sounds like failing, doesn't it? But actually, it's the doorway to grace. It's the moment that we admit our tank is empty and we can't even find the cap. Picture a child handing you a broken toy. No shame. Just. Can you fix this? That's us. When we stop pretending to be the fourth member of the Trinity, God rolls up his sleeves and starts repairing what we were only making worse. So how do we live this out in the middle of a busy day? Let me suggest three gentle steps to you. First, name it tonight. Write down just one thing. You're gripping too tightly. Just one under it. Add this line. I can't. But God can put it on the fridge. Each time you open the door. Read it aloud. Confession is the hinge that swings the door to freedom. Second swap planning for prayer. Instead of scripting out how the meeting must go. Pray God you own the outcome by breaking the obedience. Then do your part. Prepare well. Speak kindly. Tell the truth, but leave the results on the table like a waiter handing over a plate. Third practice. My Christ surrenders every hour on the hour. Pause for just 10s. Breathe in. Not my will. And breathe out. Yours be done. Simple reps that rebuild the trust muscles that we're all trying to bench press. The universe. If you're weary of the performance treadmill. Subscribe for new short biblical beasts that arrive every day and let me know in the comments! What's one thing that you're ready to hand over today? You say you were never meant to be the CEO of the cosmos. Instead, you're invited to be a child at the table, trusting that to set it. So lay the crown on the fly. Crawl under the blanket and rest in the only job description that fits a human being. Loved, led and carried. The kingdom of heaven. It's already yours. No overtime required. See you soon.
