Today, we're thinking about the one thing that actually matters to God, not the ten things that we think we're supposed to be doing. But the single lens that he looks through when he looks at us. I'm blessed with the Salvation Army officer, and this is the Battle Drill Daily devotional with Faith meets action in everyday life. Let's dive into God's Word together. You know the feeling that you know. Reading your Bible. You're saying your prayers. You're trying to take all the right boxes and yet you still close the door. Sensing that you've fallen short. So now that quiet drumbeat of not enough starts up again. It's exhausting, isn't it? What if the striving itself is missing the point? Galatians chapter five, verse six slips in with a sentence that can stop the treadmill. What is important is faith expressing itself in love. That's it. One thing, not the length of your prayer requests list. Not the speed of your repentance. Not even the size of your offering. Just faith alive and working itself out in love. Let's be honest. Really. Many of us learned a version of Christianity that feels more like a performance review than a relationship. We collect the gold stars for church attendance, but then we subtract points for every angry thought we have. The trouble with that, of course, is that the scoreboard never tells us that we're safe. We read stories of great saints. We hear the latest miracle moment, and then we glance at our very own ordinary mundane and wonder what on earth is wrong with us. But God isn't keeping score like that. He's keeping watch over a heart that trusts him enough to love. Here's what changed everything for me. Discovering that my standing before God is secured by Jesus performance, not mine. That shift sets me free from the need to impress him or others. The pressure drops and life has room to breathe. Ten minutes a day. Remembering this truth can change the rest of the day. I stop trying to earn what I've already been given, and I start asking, hey, wealth needs this love. Today. So how do we live from that place? Practically? Well, a few small habits help me stay grounded. First, begin the day in surrender. Just a two sentence prayer. Good morning. Jesus. I'm yours. Show me how to love today. It stays the whole day. Second notice loves opportunities. One intentional kindness. Texting. Some encouragement to someone. Holding your tongue. Running an errand. Keeps faith from staying. Theoretically. Third, check your motive when you're making a decision. Ask, am I doing this out of fear or out of love? The answer usually rewrites the next step. Fourth serving community safe through sturdy roots. When we're shoulder to shoulder with others who remind us that we already love faith, refuse new rules, and a voice that says try harder without first saying you're loved is selling legalism. No grace. Friends, the one thing that matters is already yours. Faith held in love. Spilling over into knots. You can put that spiritual checklist in. So my invitation is simple today. Give God just ten minutes and let him remind you who you are. Then step into the rest of your day with one question. Who gets the overflow? Let's pray. Lord, thank you that your love is settled. And sure, before we do a single thing. Teach us to live from that freedom. Make our faith visible in the way we love the people right in front of us. In Jesus name. Amen.
