Words are never just words, are they? And the word make has taken quite a beating over the years. When people hear it, they picture someone who apologizes when you step on his toe. Kind, yes, but far too floppy for real life. In a world that rewards hustle and loud opinions, meekness feels like volunteering to be everybody's doormat. We quietly park that third beatitude in the nice, but not for me garage and drive on. Hi and welcome to Battle Drill, a daily devotional on robots of pain. And today we're looking at a word that most of us have misunderstood our whole lives. The word meek. But what if we've got the definition of the word meek? Upside down. Jesus said, blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Now that's a breathtaking promise to miss simply because we think that meek means weak. The Greek word Jesus uses is precious. It doesn't describe a limp noodle. It pictures a war horse that now carries a rider. Instead of trampling the battlefield. The muscles are still there. The thundering hooves is still there, but the reins are in someone else's hands. Meekness, then, isn't the absence of strength. It's strength that is surrendered its direction to God. You keep every gift that he gave you. Your sharp mind, your influence, your quick humor, whatever it is. But you just let him steer. Look at Jesus for a moment. He calms storms. He out with lawyers and he cleaned house in the temple with a whip. I'll be a pushover then. Yet, he said, I am gentle and humble in heart. The same voice that spoke galaxies into orbit chose silence before Pilate and carried a cross up a hill. That's price. Limitless strength. Gladly submitted to the father. Now, if the strongest man who ever lived chose meekness as his value, then maybe we've miscast the role. After all. So how do we live this? Number one. Before you hit send on that fiery email or text, ask who's holding the reins. Number two, use your strength to serve, not to score. Open that door. Carry that box. Mentor. The new starter. And number three. Choose quiet confidence over loud assertion. You can silence gossip by refusing to spread it. That's power under control. Number four. Forgive. Revenge says I'm strong enough to hurt you. Back. Meekness says I'm strong enough to let God settle the score. Jesus promises that the meek will inherit the earth and he means it. Not scamper for scraps, but actually inherit. When you stop protecting your little patch of turf through force and fear, you become eligible for the wide open spaces of God's provision. Peace in the midnight hour. Joy even when the bank account is rattling. Courage when everyone else is in meltdown. The earth you gain isn't just property. It's room to breathe, to build and to bless. Now, if this message is reshaping your idea of strength, why don't hit subscribe and drop a comment answering this question. Where do you most need to trade anxious control for steady meekness this week? Your story might unlock someone else's breakthrough. Let's pray. Jesus, you had every right to use your strength, yet you chose to yield. Teach us to do the same. Take our raw strength. Our words are wallets and our wants. And bring them under your wise control. May we walk into every room this week with the quiet confidence of people who know the battle is already yours. Help us to be meek. Amen. Watch us inherit more than we ever dared to claim. Amen. Now go in that strength under his control and enjoy the life that you're about to inherit. Stay strong and stay battle ready. Thanks so much for watching Battle Royale Daily Devotional.
