You Are Not Far From the Kingdom of God | Mark 12 | Holy Week 5-Min Daily Devotional

*Are you close to something God is calling you into - but haven't quite stepped through yet?*
On Tuesday of Holy Week, Jesus is back in the temple and the challenges come one after another. But buried in the middle of it all is one of the quietest, most haunting moments in the whole of Holy Week.
A scribe steps forward - not to trap Jesus, but to ask a genuine question. He gets a remarkable answer. He understands it. He even agrees with it. And then Jesus says something that sounds like a compliment but is actually one of the most quietly devastating things he ever says.
_"You are not far from the kingdom of God."_
Not far. But not in.
In this devotional, we explore the contrast between the scribe - intellectually as close to the door as you can get without going through it - and a widow who quietly puts two tiny coins in the offering box and holds nothing back. Two completely different postures at exactly the same door.
The door is still open. The question is whether you'll walk through it.
