**What if the version of God we prefer is simply the version we can control?**
**Isaiah 46 asks us a searching question: are we letting God reshape us, or quietly reshaping him around us?**
In today’s 5-minute Christian devotional, we explore Isaiah 46:5–7 and the strange picture of people who make their own gods — and then have to carry them. We may not worship statues, but we can still create a version of God who fits comfortably around our plans, habits and ambitions.
The living God is different. He does not exist to make our plans work. He loves us enough to challenge, guide and reshape us — and he is strong enough to carry us when surrender feels difficult.
If these short Bible reflections help you begin your day with God, **subscribe and join me each day for a new 5-minute devotional.**

**Question for you:** Where are you most tempted to ask God to fit around *your* plans?
It might be your diary, money, relationships, ambitions or simply the way you expected life to work.
You don’t need to share anything too personal, but I’d love to hear what trusting God in that area looks like for you.
